We anticipate COVID-19 will affect the events and programs PTA sponsors this year. We will do our best to find ways to support the students in these challenging times. The below list reflects the past Events and Programs some of which may not be held this year.

Book Fair (Fall)

Book fair pays for itself and vendor provides rewards and support for teachers and library

CHAIRPERSON NEEDED

Book Fair is an event that brings the joy of reading to students. Featuring Mobile cases full of affordable books based on characters and subjects kids love. Scholastic provides the books, planning tools and display cases for the event. Our Book Fair is responsible for raising funds for our school library as well as engaging families to read together. This event takes place during Parent/Teacher Goal Setting.

Children's Holiday Store is a boutique designed especially for children for the holiday seasons, where students can come shop for family and friends. Gifts are available at all price levels. This is a very popular event with the students.

Crayon Initiative / Crayola / Glue

 

Parent Communication, Collection of Donations and Product Processing

CHAIRPERSON NEEDED

The Crayon Initiative is a crayon recycling program. All crayons that are donated are shipping to Northern California, melted down by color, molded into new crayons, and shipped out to Hospitals where they help children going thru therapy or just to brighten a child's day. "More than a half-million pounds of crayons are discarded every year, turning into a waxy sludge that clogs our landfills and never biodegrades. The Crayon Initiative collects donated crayons from restaurants, schools and homes across the country, then melts them down and remanufactures them, reducing waste. Better yet, the recycled crayons are distributed to art programs at children’s hospitals across the U.S., brightening the lives of young patients during their stay." from The Crayon Initiative website. For more than 100 years, National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA®) has worked toward bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Founded in 1897 as the National Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, National PTA is a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Thus we take the opportunity to recognize volunteers and community partners for their outstanding devotion to children at our school and community at large.

Game Room gives each student the opportunity to engage in hands-on interactive games during their lunch recess. Students can play with their friends, make new friends, or play with the PTA Volunteer.

Direct Parent Donation

CHAIRPERSON NEEDED

Annual Holiday Food Drive collects donated canned & non-perishable foods & goods before the Thanksgiving Holiday. The items are then distributed to our own Sulphur Springs Families in need. Gift Cards are encouraged in addition to assist families with grocery purchases.

Annual Holiday Gift Drive collects donated, wrapped gifts that the children in need have requested. We request items to be split between Wants and Needs list that are provided from the families.

The Mustang Roundup is our largest fundraiser designed to support all of the Sulphur Springs PTA’s commitments benefiting our students. This is an adult-only evening featuring gourmet dining, cocktails, live and silent auctions.

Sulphur Springs PTA earns money when you recycle. There are bins around campus and scheduled drop off times during Valet. You can also Drop off your recyclables directly at Sierra Recycling (behind Dunkin Donuts) and tell them you want to donate to Sulphur Springs.Don't forget to grab a receipt and email it to our recycling chair.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is The National Family Partnership organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Campaign™. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. ​Click HERE for more information.
